Recent
activities:
The
Bageshwar chapter has been slow to get started, but after attending
a workshop in SBMA this June, they have started working on their
chapter of the MCF with new vigor. We're still waiting for details
on their activities, but Manoj Negi has written us a letter
and a poem full of enthusiasm.
May
2003: Members of the Bageshwar secretariat, in conjunction with
MCF partner, HITESHI, celebrated the first anniversary of the MCF
on May 21st with a multifaceted program that drew about 400 children
as well as adults. In addition to talking about the MCF and calling
upon those present to spread environmental awareness, the children
had a colorful cultural program and discussion about their forests,
water, and earth and then they formally elected a district MCF manch.
Mr. Amba Ram Arya, District Inspector of Schools in Bageshwar, and
Rankuri Gopalnath Goswami, head of the village panchayat government
of the village of Bantoli, were honored guests.
