The Silicon Valley chapter
of Asha for Education has formed an unprecedented partnership
with the MCF to help young people tap the power of the Right to
Information Act (RTI) to improve their communties. A series of 93 workshops are being conducted from October 2008 - October 2009 which culminates in the submission of RTI applications to the concerned departments of the government.
Thanks to the Educational Resource Centre (ERC) and Lisle Inc. for the Mini Grant Global Seed Fund 2008 . The grant was for a series of 9 community engagement workshops with young people in rural mountain communities in the Indian state of Uttrakhand.
Our grateful thanks to Indian for Collective Action (ICA) for their support to the MCF towards the Core Operating Fund which enables us to continue this important work of giving the young people a voice and helping them improve their lives and communities.
Our
thanks to Lisle Inc. and the Educational
Resources Center (ERC) for their generous support of a workshop
in May 2005. The workshop took place in the remote hills of
Pithoragarh, near the India-Nepal border.
We
gratefully acknowledge a generous grant from the Barton
Foundation to help provide libraries and resource centers
to children in remote mountain communities.
Shri
Bhuvaneshwari Mahila Ashram (SBMA),
our parent organization, continues to be our original source of financial
and moral support. And SBMA/Plan remains one of
our most active and supportive partners in our work with the children
of the Garhwal mountains.

How
you can help:
We welcome any kind of support and input you are able to give, but
here are some things we particularly need:
- The
children are setting up libraries in their communities, so books
(especially in Hindi) and other resources such as maps, would
be appreciated.
- Used,
but working, still cameras that can be given to the children in
different areas to document their activities.
- Your
ideas on how we can make this site and the MCF better.
- We
can always use financial and in-kind support. If you have ideas
about how
you
would like to help the MCF, let us know!
If
you would like to start or facilitate an MCF chapter, please contact
us at mcfglobal@gmail.com.
