RTI Applications Partner Organisation : ARPAN Supported by : Asha Workshop Report Sept 11th – 12th 2010 – A two day workshop on Right to Information Act, 2005 was organized in village Datu Kheda on 11th & 12th Sepetmber 2010 by NGO Arpan, Pithoragarh with the support of Mountain Children’s Foundation Dehradun. 36 children and 13 adults, a total of 49 members, attended the workshop.
Some queries brought up by the children: Deeksha – "Where can we seek or ask information from? And will they not ask us why we want the information?" Ganga (Facilitator Arpan) explain in detail and said no one can ask why information is requested and information can be taken from any government office except from those that have any connection with eth security of the country Deeksha – "Can we ask for information if the heavy rain destroyed our field and house?" Ganga said that they could ask for compensation that can be given in such cases and what the government process was. Manish – "Is there any risk in filing application." Ganga said that if anyone should question the children or threaten them then they could file a complaint with the Commission. And that she and Arpan(NGO) and MCF would be there to support them. Harshita – "If we ask information will the problem be solved immediately?" Ganga said that it would take 30 days for an answer to reach the applicant. Aakash – "What is the procedure of filing RTI application? Can our parents ask information?" Ganga explained the entire process of filing an application and said that anyone could file an RTI application. Sept 16th - 17th 2010 – A two day workshop on Right to Information Act, 2005 was organized in village Dhungatoli on 16th & 17th September 2010 by the NGO Arpan, Pithoragarh with the support of Mountain Children’s Foundation Dehradun. 32 children and 7 adults, a total of 39 members, attended the workshop.
Some queries brought up by the children: Kailash Kumar – What should we do if we don’t received information with the time period of the 30 days - the trainer (Ganga Facilitator Arpan)said a first appeal to the appellate authority of the same department should be sent.

Vimla Baseda asked - can we submit the RTI application by hand to the department. The trainer told her yes we can. Ramesh Singh Chaiser asked what the procedure was to make the identity card . The trainer said that filing an RTI would let us know the process Oct 15th - 16th 2010 – A two day workshop on Right to Information Act, 2005 was organized in village Toli on 11th & 12th Sepetmber 2010 by NGO Arpan, Pithoragarh with the support of Mountain Children’s Foundation Dehradun. 30 children and 8 adults, a total of 38 members, attended the workshop.
Some queries brought up by the children: Sanjay Chandra asked - "can one person ask information on two different issues?" The trainer said yes. He asked if the application could be sent in someone elses name. The trainer said that it is possible but both parties should be aware of the application being filed. Basanti asked what should be the procedure if information was not received within 30 days ? Trainer told her about the appeal procedure. Babita asked from where we can get the information about building the kitchen of the school. Trainer replied from the education department. Dec 28th - 29th 2010 – A two day workshop on Right to Information Act, 2005 was organized in village Ghatibhagad on 28th & 29th Dec 2010 by the NGO Arpan, Pithoragarh with the support of Mountain Children’s Foundation Dehradun. 36 children and 19 adults, a total of 55 members, attended the workshop.
Some queries brought up by the children: Sweeti Dhakriyal – Enquired about the availability of the form to file the RTI application. The facilitator Ganga, said that there was no format but that she would teach the children how to file an application. Vinay Gwal- Where the10 rupee fee was to be deposited instead of sending a Postal Order –– The facilitator Ganga told them that the 10 rupee fee had to be given to the PIO officer. April 10th - 11th 2011 – A two day workshop on Right to Information Act, 2005 was organized in village Kimkhola by the NGO Arpan, Pithoragarh with the support of Mountain Children’s Foundation Dehradun. 31 children and 5 adults, a total of 36 members, attended the workshop.
