Group Activities:

June - Jan 2011: 5 two day workshops on the Right to Information Act sponsored by Asha (SV) supported by MCF were conducted by the NGO Naina Gramin Vikas Seva Samiti (NGVSS), in the district of Udham Singh Nagar, with the baal panchayats of Khetalsanda (Kham), Charubeta, Mundeli, Naugawan Patia, Tedaghant/Basti villages. 150 children and adults participated in the workshops and some filed RTI applications.

Nov 2010: Naina Gramin Vikas Samiti in partnership with the Mountain Children’s Foundation supported by the Women’s Coalition Trust celebrated the World Day for Prayer and Action on the 16th of November 2010 with a one-day workshop in the village of Mudeli, Udham Singh Nagar. Thirty eight participants, representing a cross-section of the community, took part in the workshop.

June 2010: A new partner in the second phase of the Asha (SV) sponsored RTI campaign, Naina Gramin Vikas Seva Samiti (NGVSS), organised a workshop under the guidance of the MCF at Khetalsanda (Kham) village, Udham Singh Nagar. 40 members participated in the workshop.

June 2010: During a 2 day RTI facilitators workshop conducted By MCF and supported by Asha(SV) on 16th - 17th June, Vinod Pathak of NGVSS, received a positive response and action to the RTI applications filed:  

  • pakka houses built near the Nepal Border.
  • Applied for DBC, got a gas connection within 6 days of filing an RTI .
  • The people under the BPL (Below the Poverty Line) were allotted houses under the Indrawas Yojna scheme.

Aug 2009: MCF's partner for the RTI workshops in Udham Singh Nagar, KAGAS, has conducted a series of 5 village level workshops and have involved a total of 155 children. Read about the RTI applications filed by these children.

Jan 2009: The Silicon Valley chapter of Asha for Education has joined forces with the MCF to promote understanding and use of the Right to Information act in rural mountain communities. The MCF is partnered by 18 NGOs to help spread the awarness amongst the village children. KAGAS in Udham Singh Nagar , is one such partner and they have conducted a series of 5 RTI workshops at the village level. RTI applications have been filed with the concerned departments.
