Rudraprayag: Rudraprayag is named for the confluence of the Rivers Mandakani and Alaknanda which goes on to become the Ganga. A small district sandwiched between the districts of Tehri and Chamoli, Rudraprayag has a population density of 120 people per square kilometer, and a literacy rate of 74.2%.

Mr. Raghuveer Khandwal) Group Activities: Sept - Oct 2010: 2 two day workshop on Right to Information Act, 2005 was organized by GRASS, District Rudraprayag, with the support of Mountain Children’s Foundation, Dehradun in villages Gorti and Ponthi. 66 participants from Uchchana, Uroli Gorti and Ponthi participated in the workshop. Sept 2010: One day follow up workshop on 26th Sept. sponsored by Give2Asia, was organised by MCF and their partner organisation, Mandakini Ki Awaj Kalyan Seva Samiti, Bhanaj in Rudraprayag District. Read how the children have strenghtened their children's groups and have started interacting with and helping the elders of the area. June 2010: During a 2 day RTI facilitators workshop conducted By MCF and supported by Asha(SV) on 16th - 17th June, Renu (Bal Panchayat member) of Grass said that when she had personally filed an RTI in Class 9 her queries were immediately answered , which had motivated her to file more applications. She now helps train other children willing to learn about the Act. May 2010: The third Give2Asia workshop was conducted on 8th-9th May 2010 at village Bhanaj, district Rudraprayag, by MCF with their partner organisation Mandakini ki Awaz Kalyan Sewa Samiti. Nov 2009: A one day children’s follow up workshop on the Right to Information was organized on 11th November 2009 at Omkara Nand Highschool Jakholi, district Rudraprayag, by the NGO, GRASS. In this workshop 223 children from 15 villages of different Bal Panchayats shared their experiences with each other. School teachers, health workers, social workers and other members of the villager community also participated in the workshop. Sept 2009: MCF's partner for the RTI workshops in Rudraprayag, GRASS, has conducted a series of 5 village level workshops and have involved a total of 206 children. Jan 2009:The Silicon Valley chapter of Asha for Education has joined forces with the MCF to promote understanding and use of the Right to Information act in rural mountain communities. The MCF is partnered by 18 NGOs to help spread the awarness amongst the village children. GRASS in Rudraprayag, is one such partner and they are conducting RTI workshops at the village level.
