Pauri has a population density of 129. The literacy rate is 78%. The district has 1,755 primary schools, 468 junior high schools, 93 high schools and 164 Intermediate (classes 11&12) schools. The Garhwal University is in Pauri. Pauri is also the division head for the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.

Group Activities:

Nov - Dec 2010: 3 two day workshops on the Right to Information Act sponsored by Asha (SV) supported by MCF were conducted by the NGO SEAD, in the district of Pauri with the baal panchayats of Farsula, Sajhasain, Goyun villages. 126 children participated in the workshops and some filed RTI applications.

Nov 2009: A one day children’s follow up workshop on the Right to Information was organized by Jan Chetna Kendra on 15th November, 2009 at Srinagar in district Pauri Garhwal. A total of 154 people participated in the workshop. These included children from the Baal panchayats, their parents, villagers, media persons and social workers.

Sept 2009: On Sept. 10th-11th, MCF and World Vision initiated RTI training for children in District Pauri. Read more...

Jan - Aug 2009: The Silicon Valley chapter of Asha for Education has joined forces with the MCF to promote understanding and use of the Right to Information act in rural mountain communities. The MCF is partnered by 18 NGOs to help spread the awarness amongst the village children. Jan Chetna Kendra in Pauri, is one such partner and they have conducted a series of 5 RTI workshops at the village level. A total of 160 children have been involved and RTI applications have been filed with the concerned departments. Read more ....
